My journey
My name is Samy Berghol and I'm currently in my third year of a Computer Science degree at the IUT Littoral Côte d'Opale.
I was born in Italy, then spent part of my schooling in France before completing my secondary education in Casablanca, Morocco. After passing my baccalauréat, I decided to return to France to continue my studies in computer science in Calais.
I chose this path because I belong to a very connected generation, fascinated by digital technologies and how they work. Very early on, I felt the need to understand how the computers and software we use every day work.
A passion for music
Alongside my studies, I've been passionate about music for over six years. I'm a freelance music producer, composing tracks in a variety of styles, from classical music to modern productions.
I also produce the mixing and mastering of my own compositions. This practice has enabled me to familiarize myself with many audio production tools and to better understand the needs of music creators.
It was naturally through this passion that I wanted to link music and computing.
Computers and digital audio
In order to combine these two worlds, I began to take an interest in the development of plugins and audio tools. I have completed several projects in C++ with the JUCE framework, using Visual Studio to develop plug-ins for digital audio workstations (DAWs).
These projects enabled me to explore notions related to audio signal processing, spectrum analysis and digital audio effects design.
Objectives
On completion of my Computer Science degree, I'd like to continue my studies in Master of Computer Science to strengthen my software development skills, particularly in C/C++ and Python.
I would also like to improve my level of English and do a Erasmus university exchange, to develop my language skills and discover other academic environments.
In the longer term, the idea of creating a Ph.D. in sound signal processing is of particular interest to me.
My professional goal is to join a company at the crossroads of audio and IT, to participate in the development of innovative tools for musical creation and to contribute to research and development in this field.
